What's New

  • The June meeting will be held on Saturday June 16th at Ron Lerner's cabin. This will be a pot luck luncheon with family members invited.

Ron's cabin is located at 755 Moffit Gulch Road which is east of Bozeman at the Bear Canyon Road exit #313. A sign will be posted just past the railroad tracks you have to cross on Moffit Gulch road. The sign will mark the driveway into the property then you drive about a 1/4 mile. You can access a Google map here. The directions on the Google map originate from the normal meeting location at the Bozeman High School. Please car pool.

This is a family event. The event starts at 11:00 am and runs until 3:00 with the meal at noon.

At the May meeting a sign up sheet was passed around. If you did not get on that signup sheet please let Ron know at 582-8300 or let one of the officers know so we can have a head count. The main meat dish and bread will be provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share and your own drinks.

We will do the normal show and tell so please bring your latest projects to show off. Please bring your own lawn chairs.

  • After the June meeting/luncheon the group will be taking the summer off with no meetings in July or August but we will get back together in September and hopefully everyone will have all of their summer woodworking projects to show off.

  • If you have items that you have checked out of the library and have had them for awhile please get them back for others to enjoy. The time limit is 30 days.

  • Dues at the start of the year. $20.00

  • We need more demonstration topics and demonstrators. If you have some knowledge you wish to share please volunteer to give a demo or lead a discussion. If you have questions or a skill you wish to know more about please bring it up to see if this spurs someone to demonstrate or share their knowledge.

  • Two lathes for sale on the classified's page.

  • Last Student group meeting for this school year will be held Wednesday May 30th.

  • The student group meets every Wednesday from 3:30 to 6:00. So if you got some time please step up and help with the student group. All members that have participated report it is a fun experience.

  • Check back here for updated pictures of projects.

To check out the student portion of the web site click here.

  • The meeting night is the second Tuesday of the month. The business meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and the general meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. As always guests are welcome and be sure to bring your latest work for show and tell.

  • The Rotary Club used to receive a turned gavel from John Montagne every year for the incoming president.
Gavel made by John MontagneWith John's passing the group feels that we should step in and take over this in John's memory. The November meeting featured Gordon McMullen demonstrating how to make a gavel. Tom Robinson found this source for instructions. It has been proposed that we make a supply of gavels to give away to this organization in John Montagne's memory. If you would like to create a gavel we can donate several to the organization. The Rotary club intends to use a 4 1/2" long brass plaque around the head with your name and the recipent. Please make the head large enough so the circumference is large enough for this plaque.

  • Free turned wooden bowls. See how you can get a free artistic wooden bowl or turned item.

  • The library is a resource for guild members. The library is brought to each meeting. If you have books/DVDs/Videos that you would like to share you can donate them to the library or loan them and retain ownership.

If you have not been getting the newsletter via e-mail please contact the Guild Secretary with your current e-mail address.
